John "Chris" Butler has taught world history at University High School since 1979. He has won local and national recognition for his teaching, notably the American Historical Association's Beveridge Family Teaching Award in 2001.This is the only award the AHA gives to history teachers below the college level.
Not that such things necessarily qualify him or anyone else to publish anything, but hopefully they are some indication that he is more than casually interested in history. His lifelong
passion for history is only matched by growing fears of where we could be headed because we have lost so much historical perspective. Hopefully this will help slow the bleeding.
